Backup and archive is technology and time intensive process, we will handle it professionally for you.

We backup and archive your footage, project file, music, still digital photo to reliable media such as tape & blu-ray disk. We can also help you to store them online for easy access (please note online storage can't be the only long term backup & archive solution, see FAQs for reason).
The backup price consists of two parts: service fee & media fee. Service fee is the cost on labor & equipment usage, and media fee is the cost of target media (such as tape or blu-ray disk).
For footage that is still on video tapes, we can digitize them for you (capture from tape to computer files), then back them up to reliable media for long term archival purpose. SD to HD up convertion can be done as well during digitizing.
We highly recommend you to have second set of backup copy, for extra peace of mind. This is the mandatory standard at banks & military for the most important data. We have great discount ( 50% off ! ) for second or third set of copy to encourage you for that. Extra discount is also available for high-volume orders. Please inquire.

Tape Backup |
Backup/archive all kinds of computer files to high capacity tapes, such as footage, project file, music, digital photo, etc. Tape has a proven lifespan of 30+ years. One LTO3 can hold 400GB data and LTO4 holds 800GB, we recommand you to use LTO4 even if your data can be hold in LTO3 tape because LTO4 tape has longer life time span (support) for the future. For information of how many hours of footage it equals to, please see the chart after the following price info.
Backup is a time intensive process, take 800GB data for example, it will need 21 hours for the whole process to properly back up the data to tape.

FYI: Data Rates For Capture (How Many Hours Of Footage A Backup Tape Can Hold?)
The data rates for compressed video are normal and it depends on the codecs you select, for example, 8-bit compressed AVI / QuickTime for DV and .M2T for HDV is about 13GB/hour.
The data rates for uncompressed video are quite high, and listed below are minimum disk requirements for uncompressed standard definition and high definition video. Hope this will help you to understand & calculate how many tapes you will need.

On-site Duplication |
At the site of shooting, we copy your footage from solid-state media
card to multi hard drives, so you will have two or more identical copies of the footage (for safety & redundancy reason and to free up your media card), so you can get ready for post production & archive when you finish shooting. Please contact us for rate.

Tape Digitizing (Capture From Tape To Computer File) |
We can help you with tape digitizing --- capture your tape to computer file. We support many formats of tape (such as Digital Betacam / Betacam / Betacam SP / Betacam SX / DVCPRO / DV / DVCAM / HDCAM / HDCAM SR) and destination file is 10-bit/8-bit uncompressed QuickTime (Mac platform) or uncompressed AVI (PC platform), or compressed AVI, sample rate 4:2:2 or 4:4:4.
We also do HD/SD up/down convertion, in most of formats. Please see the table above for file size info of different formats.
For MAC platform, Apple uncompressed QuickTime files is supported, including 8-bit & 10-bit YUV HD and SD, as well as 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 HD and 2K. Here are the formats supported:

On-line Storage |
Upload & store your footage, project file, music, digital photo to online server so you can access them over Internet 24x7. Please note the following fee is for storage only, client are responsible to upload by themselves, or we do that at extra cost.
$20/month for every 100GB. Discount is available on high volumn.

Off-site Storage |
Help to store your backup/archive copy (tape or blu-ray disk) off-site (at Iron Mountain) to prevent unexpected disaster. This is the standard procedure for bank & government. Iron Mountain is the biggest professional offsite storage service provider for data. You can open your own account with them directly, or via our account.

Pickup & Delivery |
We will come over to your office for pick up & delivery, $50 service fee on all orders inside Great Toronto Area (includes both pick-up and delivery).
